Fae of Cascadia is a community enhancement program designed to foster social connections, promote health equity, and improve public spaces in Portland. Participants engage in a fantasy-themed adventure quest that involves collaborative projects and activities, with options for free and premium levels of participation. Through play and whimsy Fae of Cascadia aims to address social determinants of health, reflect community voices, and create long term change in our lives and communities.
An effective solution to our epidemic of loneliness and isolation is to actively cultivate deep and long term community relationships and networks, which improve life quality for both participants and the greater public. Fae of Cascadia is formatted as a game, but the mission is to serve as a greater networking tool to systematically introduce and connect us to one another through meaningful and productive real world activities. This involves multiple layers of engagement, depending on how much time and energy each individual chooses to invest.
Participation is geared to instill confidence and awareness of self worth by cultivating each individual’s strengths, skills, and talents, and to enhance the entire community by utilizing those strengths, skills, and talents. Beyond the personal benefits to the lives of participants, Fae of Cascadia will create new useful public spaces and systems to benefit the community as a whole.
